SUMMARY:JBLM Kids' Fest 2026
DESCRIPTION:Every year for MANY years the WKA has hosted a kids kitemaking table at the Fest. Started by the late Jerry Graham (WKA member and officer)\, he and Carl Williamson and volunteers showed kids how to put together a sled kite. Over time the table coordination was transferred to Rick White and now Rick and Bonnie Ecker coordinate the table. \nFunny thing\, it started with about 250 kites being made by the kids. Today\, the lines have become so long that we have to pre-assemble 700 kites to simply hand out.\nThe event has been extremely popular for the military kids and it’s so fun to watch them fly their kites. \nLocation is outside the JBLM Festival Tent. \nIf you don’t have military ID\, you will need to get a Visitors Pass at the Visitor Center\, Main Gate.

DESCRIPTION:This annual event has been a great hit for many years. It’s changed its name through time but has now settled on Grays Harbor Festival of Colors. \nThursday June 4 will be a themed fly after setting up the field.\nFriday June 5 will display Arches and Trains during the day\, and a night fly at dusk.\nSaturday is Kid’s Kitemaking\, Running of the Bols\, and Mass Ascension events. \nMeet in Ocean Shores in front of the Shilo Inn Hotel. Access near the Chance a La Mer approach\, in the middle of town. \nSport kites will be on the south side of the approach with single lines to the north. \nFestival brochure available at Ocean Shores Kites shop.
