To promote the study of kite design aesthetics, aerodynamics, and the history of kites.
To promote kite flying safety, and perpetuate the art and science of kite flying through education.
Education has always been an important part for the WKA. It’s part of our Mission. Kite building classes at elementary schools, summer camps, fairs, and at Fort Worden Kitemakers Conference are a continuing tradition. Thousands of kites have been built with kids and adults. Earlier in our history, books were donated to the Seattle Public Library that contained a book plate on the inside front cover with a drawing of the Tony Toledo Philippine Fighter Kite.
