Join Pierce County and the Pierce County Kite Fliers for a fun day of showing off your kites and flying skills, kids and adults activities (like Running of the Bols, candy drop, free kids kites, handcrafted show-off, People's Choice...). This year (2026) it will be only a single day event. You do need to purchase a parking pass in advance, but if you're a flyer or helping out at the festival, we'll send you a free pass. Every year during the 3rd full week of August, Long Beach (WA) hosts the International Kite Festival. SEVEN days of kite flying, competitions, demonstrations, international celebrities, themed huge inflatables, kids kite making, handcrafted kite judging, 5 Mass Ascensions, vendors along the Promenade, FOOD! and more. Many of the regional kite clubs and associations will be there so check their websites and Facebook pages. The Washington Kitefliers Association and the World Kite Museum hosts dinners for a fee. This year the Associated Oregon Kiters (AOK) will not be hosting a dinner. Make your hotel/motel/campground reservations EARLY or you'll be staying in Ilwaco or elsewhere!!! Join the Washington Kitefliers Association for their annual membership meeting, dinner, raffle and auction. Long Beach Grange Hall at 5715 Sandridge Rd. 8/21 Doors open at 5:00pm Dinner is 6:00-ish $15 ticket, Presales on the beach! Any remaining sold at the door. MUST HAVE A TICKET TO ENTER! Your hand will be stamped for re-entry. Gotta stay in line with the fire code. ;)

Friday Noon-6pm, Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 10am-noon Rockaway Beach Fall Kite Festival is held by the sponsorship of the American Kitefliers Association (AKA). The old festival was held for more than 20 years. Amateur and professional kitefliers participate. Tens of colored kites in various shapes decorate the sky, creating a marvelous view. Flying competitions as well as kids activities, building and flying kites. Enjoy live music, food tastes, and more. Due to large numbers of visitors, it's recommended to check hotel rates and book rooms well in advance.
